Nutrition in medical education

Traditionally, experts in healthcare knowledge - people who decide what healthcare learners should learn - have all decided that some factors of nourishment should be involved in programs. However, the biggest hurdle for some time was accepting about what to show. In 1989 the United states Community for Scientific Nutrition Panel on Medical/Dental School and Residence Nutrition Education released a list of 26 high-priority subjects that should form part of the healthcare program. Those given the most important were:
  • Obesity
  • Diet
  • Hypelipidemias and atherosclerosis
  • Diet and diabetes
  • Pregnancy and lactation
